High
School
Beginning with 9th Grade in Fall 2005, Southern Hills Academy’s
High School will extend class offerings each year (10th Grade
in 2006, 11th Grade in 2007), producing our first graduating
class in 2009. The high school is a college-preparatory school
devoted to nurturing intellectual, physical and moral development,
encouraging creativity and critical thinking, and enriching
students’ lives through an appreciation of the fine
arts and sciences. This is achieved in a climate of support
and caring, with a curriculum that integrates technology by
assigning each student their own laptop and is appropriate
to the students’ needs. The high school supports students
in becoming self-motivated, competent and lifelong learners.
Placing a high value on education and learning, Southern
Hills Academy seeks to serve families who want to participate
as full partners in the education of their children and who
seek a rigorous and well-rounded educational program. In addition
to academics, it is our goal to offer our students outlets
for their interests and talents in extra curricular activities.
It is of primary importance that we establish congruence and
alignment between the philosophy, policies, and practices
of all extra curricular programs and Southern Hills Academy’s
broader mission. Extra curricular activities will be added
to the school structure similar to the method of adding grades
9 – 12 with one new offering added each year based upon
student interest, student numbers and resources available.
